Graduates of The Bridge leave Costa Rica not only with the impressive RESUME one builds during a supportive gap experience abroad, but with a unique set of skills, cross-cultural competencies, a clearer understanding of their values, increased autonomy and self-governance, leadership experience, the capacity to see things from different viewpoints, flexibility and adaptability, and a renewed drive to pursue their path. We were fortunate to sit down recently with a few of our graduates who shared perspectives on how their experiences at The Bridge continue to shape their lives years after leaving Costa Rica.
"The Bridge allowed me to learn more about myself in an environment where...I was taken out of the things I would normally concern myself with. I was given a space where I could explore some of my passions."
"Costa Rican culture...gave me an opportunity to create a new person of myself within that culture and experience things a little differently to allow me to understand the qualities of myself that I want to have."
"One of the biggest life lessons is being able to recognize things when they are not working and then changing them, rather than accepting them as 'it is what it is'...as opposed to having to avoid things I don't want to do I can actively change the situation I'm in. I can make changes and make my life better."
"The Bridge gave me a much stronger sense of agency...it offered a sandbox in which I was disconnect from most of my previous patterns...I was given opportunity after opportunity to try new things, to push my boundaries...it gave me a new perspective of myself."
