Paying for The Bridge with 529 College Savings Funds.

 529 Funds

Through our partnership with Western Colorado University, families can utilize 529 College Savings Plans to fund both college coursework and the full experiential tuition at The Bridge Costa Rica.

 01   Academic Partnership

The Power of Academic Parternship

Because 529 College Savings Plans can only be disbursed to eligible higher education institutions for qualified educational expenses,

The Bridge partners with Western Colorado University (WCU).

Through WCU, students enroll in accredited college courses (earning up to 9 transferable credits taught by Dr. Danny Recio, Director of The Bridge). This academic registration enables WCU to process your 529 distribution, cover tuition fees, and remit program costs directly to The Bridge on your behalf.

 02  Step by Step Guide

Navigating your 529 Distribution

 #1

Apply & Enroll at The Bridge

Complete our admissions process, secure your student’s spot, and notify our admissions team

that you intend to use a 529 College Savings Plan.

 #2

 Pay Program Deposit

Pay the required initial deposit directly to The Bridge to confirm registration.

(Note: direct deposits will be accounted for in your total balance, though they may not appear

on the final 1098-T form.)

 #3

 Register for WCU College Credit

Complete WCU’s online application under the Center for Learning & Innovation, selecting The Bridge Costa Rica

as your designated program and enrolling in at least one college course during the term.

 #4

 Receive Your Official Invoice

WCU generates an itemized invoice encompassing total Bridge program costs, WCU course tuition,

applied deposit/scholarship credits, and WCU's 2% program processing fee (capped at $400).

 #5

 Request 529 Distribution

Submit the official WCU invoice to your 529 plan provider at least 30 days prior to your program start date,

directing funds to be sent directly to Western Colorado University.

 #6

 Reconciliation & Tax Reporting

WCU receives the payment, covers course tuition, disburses remaining funds to The Bridge, and issues an official

1098-T tax form for your annual education tax reporting.
