Why "The Bridge"?
Unlike a traditional gap semester or gap year program, The Bridge offers the structure and support for young men who want guidance and a community of peers and mentors with whom they can reflect as they travel on their journey. If you're taking a semester or a year to learn more about yourself and the world, why not get the most out of that time and do it alongside experts whose calling is to travel your journey with you - helping you get the most out of your experiences and make sense of how they can prepare you and guide you into your future.
Why is this better than a traditional gap program?
Traditional gap programs have much potential to offer amazing, life-changing experiences for its participants. But we believe that these experiences are all the more powerful and meaningful when offered in an environment where each individual has the opportunity to process those experiences as they happen - reflecting on the immediate and long-term impacts on their selves and on the world. This guided reflection process creates more meaningful experiences for participants day by day as they re-calibrate their engagement and participation in experiences and relationships. In this way, the Bridge offers structure and support to make the most out of a gap experience as it's happening... rather than realizing its impact months or years down the road.
Why does it cost so much?
You get what you pay for. The Bridge staffs the community house 24 hours a day so all participants have experienced guides to support them on their journey. We intentionally created a community house and a collaborative, empowering system to be able to offer what other gap programs and young adult programs cannot - a true, supportive, structured community of young men who walk with each other on their journeys.
